Homework Information

At St. Helen's we provide children with homework to assist with their learning. The homework set will be to consolidate what the children have been learning in school.

Each child is provided with a homework book to complete the written tasks in.

Every week, homework tasks will be set using our Home Learning resources, Seesaw ( https://web.seesaw.me/ ) and Times Table Rock Stars (https://ttrockstars.com/).

Seesaw allows the teachers to set tasks that the children complete at home in their homework books. They also have the option to take photographs and videos of their work, create audio clips or slide shows which they can then upload for their teachers to assess. On occasions the teachers may also record audio or videos to explain tasks or concepts to the children. Seesaw also allows class teachers to give regular feedback to the children on the homework completed.

Times Table Rock Stars is available to all children, enabling them to practise their times tables on a regular basis.  Teachers set various tasks on this platform for the children to complete each week.

Recommended time to be spent on homework:

Years 3 and 4 - 1 and a half hours a week.

Years 5 and 6 - 30 minutes a day.

Children are encouraged to read every day (outside of the suggested homework time).

We strongly recommend that each child becomes a member of their local public library.

A reading guide booklet is given to the parents of all year 3 children, and can be found below.

For all year groups, homework is set on a Friday, to be completed by the following Wednesday.
