Intent

The first priority of RE at St Helen’s is to give the children an encounter with Jesus. By studying the Word of God, learning about the sacraments of the Church and reflecting on the lives of Saints and other devout Christians, the children should be equipped to make their own response to Jesus’ invitation to Come and see. Integral to this will be the children’s developing knowledge of and respect for other world religions.

The ‘Come and See’ Programme forms the basis of the religious teaching within the school. This programme involves parents who are the first educators of their children.  Class assemblies, Class and School Masses, for the children and their parents, are means used to organise the life and worship of the school and through which we strive to link R.E. to the home in order to form a caring, Christian community.
